Description
This is a 1-2-1 Beginner Barista training session, delivered by a highly-qualified member of the Machina team, here at our Roastery in Edinburgh.
We’re of the opinion that you should not only know how to prepare great espresso, but why we do it the way that we do it. Each step of the espresso preparation process is demonstrated and explained clearly to ensure you leave with the fullest understanding.
Whether you’re new to making coffee or a veteran home barista, this course aims to up your knowledge level, perfect your technique and eek out every ounce of flavour from your beans.
As part of this course you will learn:

Equipment – Fundamentals and safe operation
• Key Elements to coffee – grind, dose, yield and how they impact taste
•
Tasting the difference between good and bad coffee
• Manipulating basic variables to make better coffee
• Texturing milk properly
• Keeping your equipment clean & working well

Covid Procedures
In line with current government guidance, sessions will take place with 1m+ social distancing, and participants must wear masks unless exempt. The area will be sanitised and ventilated before arrival, with hand sanitiser and soap readily available. If you are feeling unwell before your session, please take the necessary precautions and let us know where we will be happy to postpone your session until you are feeling better. Please note: Covid procedures may change to reflect the latest government guidance.
