Description
This is a 1-2-1 Advanced Barista training session, delivered by a highly-qualified member of our Machina team, here at our roastery in Edinburgh. This is the ideal course for someone with already some experience looking to develop their skills further, or baristas who are looking to enter the world of specialty coffee.
In this course you’ll cover:
• Equipment Anatomy
• Coffee origin and roasting – country, processing roast level.
• Advanced variables and their relationships to brewing – pressure, temperature, flow rate, baskets
• Dialling in multiple coffees – two contrasting coffees finding the best recipe for each
• Further manipulation of key elements – dose, yield, strength and extraction and how they relate
• Steaming dairy and plant-based milk to a high standard and producing basic latte art
• In-depth maintenance of your espresso machine and grinder and recognising common problems

Covid Procedures
In line with current government guidance, sessions will take place with 1m+ social distancing, and participants must wear masks unless exempt. The area will be sanitised and ventilated before arrival, with hand sanitiser and soap readily available. If you are feeling unwell before your session, please take the necessary precautions and let us know where we will be happy to postpone your session until you are feeling better. Please note: Covid procedures may change to reflect the latest government guidance.
